Ebola in America!

The day that many Americans have feared has arrived. Today a man tested positive for the Ebola virus. However this man wasn't diagnosed in Africa, but in the United States. The unidentified man is currently quarantined in strict isolation at a Texas Hospital. Reuters news reports that the CDC is scrambling to get a team together and head to Texas. The news is particularly disturbing since little information has been released to the media concerning the airline he traveled on, places he has visited in the US and potentially infected contacts. In all likelihood epidemiologists will be needed to track all theoretical avenues that could lead to an outbreak.

Thank you!

Jolly Okot: Nobel Peace Prize Nominee

Volunteers4Humanity was honored to meet Uganda's first female to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize:Ms Jolly Okot. Many of our readers will recognized the co-founder of theThe Invisible Children. Ms. Jolly was abducted at age 20 by Joseph Kony's Lord Resistance Army (LRA). She later escaped and championed women's and children's rights. In 2005 she was nominated for the Nobel Prize. She is currently on tour in the United States. Taking a brief break, Ms Jolly visited our mission organizer in California.
